Huawei increases its share in China by 66%

US sanctions appear to have stuck with Huawei , which recorded a 66% increase in domestic sales. According to Canalys , Huawei has sold 41.5 million units in China, holding 42% of this huge market for the first time.

In the same quarter last year, Huawei had 25 million units and owned 25% of the country’s market. Overall, Huawei disposed of 185 million smartphones in the first three quarters of 2019, a 26% increase over last year.

Huawei’s success has dampened competitor sales, both domestic and non-domestic. Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi saw their share slump, with Apple losing just 7% of China’s market, marking a five-year negative record.

According to the analysis, Huawei’s course in China will continue at this pace as its dominant position gives it a bargaining power over its suppliers and partners, and the advent of 5G will further enhance it.
