Star Citizen: Over half a billion in funding!
Huge new milestone for the project
Cloud Imperium Games ‘ ultra-ambitious and rather controversial space sim , Star Citizen , has just reached a new huge milestone. In particular, the funding of the title from the public continues and now the amount that has been collected exceeds half a billion.
More specifically, more than 4,096,384 players have supported the team’s venture, offering a total of $500,075,150, according to official figures available on the game’s website. It is worth noting that the previous milestone of 400 million dollars was reached last year in November, as we informed you.
This means that the project raised over 100 million dollars in about ten months, just from its community. At this point it is worth noting that Star Citizen is officially the second most successful crowdfunding project of all time , not only in terms of games, but in general. Only the EOS blockchain has managed to surpass this, having raised $4 billion from its community.

For the record, Star Citizen debuted in 2012 on Kickstarter, as a spiritual successor to Chris Roberts’ beloved Wing Commander series. The title was originally slated for release in 2014, but ten years after its initial reveal, it’s still in beta and it’s unknown when we’ll see its final version. This has caused tension in the community several times, with many questioning whether the game will ever actually be released.
