Here comes the sequel to a “cult” movie from the ’90s

I know what you did last summer…

In the spotlight came a news that an old film will get a sequel. As Deadline reports , Sony Pictures is working on a sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer , which premiered in 1997.

In fact, two faces will return to the slasher film, those of Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt to reprise their characters. Additionally, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) will sit in the director’s chair.

Deadline reports the following:

Some sources say the project is still very early on, with Neal H. Moritz once again producing and Leah McKendrick writing the script.

The idea for the sequel seems to have come from Robinson and McKendrick and they proposed it to the production company and that is “to blame” for the great success enjoyed by the return of Scream.

Let us remind you somewhere here that the original I Know What You Did Last Summer was released in 1997 with director Jim Gillespie and screenwriter Kevin Williamson (Scream). Two more films followed. We also recently saw a TV series on Amazon Prime Video, but it was not a big hit and was cancelled.

At the moment we don’t know anything else about I Know What You Did Last Summer 2. For anything new stay tuned to Techblinders.com.
