M3GAN is the new horror movie from the producer of Annabelle (BINTEO)

If you’re afraid of horror movies with dolls, don’t watch this trailer…

Universal Pictures has just released the first trailer for M3GAN , its new horror film that gives flesh and bones to the nightmares of those who are afraid of children’s toys and especially dolls.

Going into details, it is a creation of James Wan, who has signed numerous well-known horror productions, such as Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring and Annabelle and is now working with Blumhouse of the Halloween movies and The Invisible Man.

So what is the concept? M3GAN is an artificial intelligence marvel. A doll that looks like a real person and is programmed to be a child’s best companion and at the same time the ultimate ally for every parent. Among other things, M3GAN can see and learn, as it becomes a friend and teacher, teammate and protector of the child it bonds with.

Its creator is Gemma (played by Get Out’s Allison Williams), who is asked to take care of her orphaned 8-year-old niece (Violet McGraw from The Haunting of Hill House). So, pressed by work, Gemma decides to use an early version of the robot to help both herself and her niece, but she soon realizes that her decision will have fatal consequences…

The film also stars Ronny Chieng (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Brian Jordan Alvarez (Will & Grace), Jen Van Epps (Cowboy Bebop), Lori Dungey (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, extended edition) and Stephane Garneau-Monten (Straight Forward).

Finally, it should be mentioned that Gerard Johnstone (Housebound) is in the director’s chair, while Akela Cooper (Malignant, The Nun 2) is editing the script.

M3GAN is expected to hit theaters on January 13.
