MediaTek gets big with the help of Intel

Important cooperation in the field of chips

Intel and MediaTek have entered into a strategic partnership in the field of processors for ” a wide range of smart devices “. Specifically, Intel will offer the Intel Foundry Services (IFS) production line to produce more chips for MediaTek in the US and Europe.

The biggest production for MediaTek so far comes from the manufacturing giant TSMC. Intel will now take over the production of chips for internet of things devices among others.

Intel established IFS in 2021 to take advantage of growing chip demand, while last year it announced it would also produce chips for Qualcomm. It aims to catch up with rivals TSMC and Samsung by 2025 with a $20 billion investment for two US factories. Of course, it also has the support of the US state apparatus, since it will gain up to $52 billion from tax breaks and financing.
