Jim Carrey once wanted his horror movie “Dumb & Dumber” ala Paranormal Activity

In the spotlight came a news that mentions that Jim Carrey once wanted to make a horror movie based on ” Dumb & Dumber “. Yes, you read that right, it would focus on the legendary comedy, in which he starred alongside Jeff Daniels .

Dumb and Dumber To was partly shot in a hotel in Colorado and from there he got the idea to make a horror film based on that film. This idea came to him after the publicity and hype that had been created by Paranormal Activity .

All this information came to the public through the mouth of Daniel Kwan (director), after stating the following:

We were in the early stages of our career, Jim Carrey embraced us. He had just seen Paranormal Activity and said to us “guys, this found footage is horror. It’s a thriller, have you seen it?” And we answered him that we had heard it. Then he told us the following: “I haven’t seen anyone do it, but imagine it in a comedy…I have a great idea.”
Basically the set of Dumb and Dumber was in a “haunted setting”. And that’s because it was in the hotel that inspired The Shining. All the time when we were shooting, things would break, people would hit like the whole set was haunted.

Kwan went on to say that Carey told him, “ We’re going to shoot Dumb and Dumber To, and I want you to do a feature-length behind-the-scenes video during filming that will slowly become a horror movie. “

We were like, ok, this is going to be amazing. We wrote it and we were excited. Then we sat down with a producer and he said they weren’t going to do that, as we were already shooting Dumb and Dumber To.
