Apple will bring ads to its Maps starting next year
In the search bar
In the spotlight came a piece of news from Bloomberg , which once again concerns Apple and its services. In particular, Mark Gurman reports that Apple aims to bring ads to its Maps for the iPhone from next year .
This news was made known through the “ Power On ” newsletter and states the following:
I believe that work on rolling out ads to the Apple Maps app has already begun and we’ll start seeing them roll out sometime in the next year.
Ads in Apple Maps probably won’t be the traditional banner ads you see on various pages, but rather paid searches in the app’s search bar. For example, a fast food chain could pay Apple to appear at the top of Maps searches when a user searches for words like “fries” or “burgers.”
Many services have this type of ads in the search (in the search bar) of the Maps, such as Google, Waze and Yelp.
Apple already displays ads in the App Store search bar, allowing developers to pay to promote their apps to users searching for relevant keywords.
