Instagram for desktop is changing

Investing in the big screen

A redesigned version of Instagram has started to make its appearance on the desktop , looking more like the web version of Twitter. So a side navigation column of categories for search, messages and notifications has been added, instead of the simple, non-descript buttons that were at the top until now.

The ability to switch accounts has been moved to the “more” menu instead of being hidden in your profile picture, and from “more” you can also access your settings and saved posts.

An Instagram spokesperson said:

We are always looking for ways to improve the Instagram.com web experience for users. We recently made changes to modernize Instagram.com, improving navigation, optimizing the video experience, and introducing immersion in DMs.

The new design also supports full screen mode for Stories, while also allowing users to download an image or video in full quality.
