High-ranking Apple executive fired over viral TikTok video
It irritated other employees
A high-ranking Apple executive has lost his position at the company after appearing in a TikTok video that went viral , including comments that were deemed offensive.
It’s VP of procurement Tony Blevins, who appeared in a short video by content creator Daniel Mac. In it Blevins was seen getting out of a half-million Mercedes-Benz, with the video maker asking him what his job is.
The former Apple executive, therefore, responded characteristically:
I drive race cars, play golf and fondle busty women. However, I do take weekends and major holidays off.
The video itself did not mention Blevins’ name, nor his position at Apple, and follows the classic style of Daniel Mac’s content, where when he sees someone driving an expensive car he goes over and asks what his job is.
According to the Bloomberg report , this particular video was the reason for an internal investigation at Apple, the result of which was the removal of Blevins from the company. The report notes that it angered some employees, who felt the comments did not align with Apple’s goals for more representation and empowerment of women.
For his part, Blevins told Bloomberg that he “would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by his misguided attempt at humor.” According to him, his line was a misquote from the 1981 film Arthur.
It is worth noting that in addition to the Bloomberg report, an Apple representative confirmed to CNBC that Blevins is a thing of the past for the company.
For the record, according to The Wall Street Journal , Blevins’ job was to communicate with suppliers and third-party partners to secure better deals for Apple. It is reported that during the construction of the famous Apple Park that houses the company’s headquarters, Blevins saved the tech giant hundreds of millions.
