Lord of the Rings: Gollum delayed and won’t be released alongside the ‘Rings of Power’ series

It is being delayed a bit more as announced by Daedelic Entertainment

A few weeks ago at the beginning of July , a new gameplay trailer for Daedelic Entertainment ‘s The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was presented , where it already confirmed the release date. In a surprising twist, however, we learn that the title is being delayed again.

The development team made the announcement via Twitter, essentially confirming that the game starring Gollum/Smeagol will not be released alongside the highly anticipated Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series (September 2). However, its delay does not bring a new window or a specific release date.

The official announcement reads:

For the last few years, our team has been working hard to bring you a remarkable story in an amazing world, full of wonder and magic. In order to give you the best possible experience, we have decided to delay the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum for a few more months. We will update you with the new specific date in the near future.

Essentially the title is being delayed to be “polished” even more and be as it should be according to Daedelic’s plan.

As the development team recently confirmed, the title has all the elements a LOTR title needs and has been duly approved by Middle-Earth Enterprises, the license company of the franchise. Initially, it was revealed that Gollum’s story takes place alongside the beginning of The Lord of the Rings, including the events of Mordor, where Gollum was kidnapped by Sauron and interrogated by Gandalf as well.

Although it was originally set to release on September 1st, we now just know that LOTR: Gollum will be released at some point on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and later on Nintendo Switch.
