GTA 6: The 17-year-old hacker probably had accomplices – New developments

It is related to the famous hacking group Lapsus$

Police in the City of London have confirmed that the 17-year-old who was arrested on Thursday in Oxfordshire, UK, is now charged with two counts of breaching bail conditions and two counts of computer misuse.

Police have not revealed whether the arrest is related to the breach of Rockstar Games ‘ network infrastructure this month, and since the perpetrator is a minor, his name has not been released. Instead, the abbreviation ‘A.K.’ is simply used.

However, journalist Matthew Keys, citing his own sources, emphasizes that the teenager was indeed arrested for the attack in question and the leak of GTA 6 , as well as for the violation of Uber ‘s infrastructure .

The 17-year-old is reported to have been in trouble with the authorities again this year and this is the second time he has been arrested , after being associated with the famous hacking group Lapsus$ , which earlier in 2022 carried out attacks on giant tech companies, such as Microsoft, Samsung and Nvidia.

The reporter’s unnamed source added:

The arrest followed an investigation by federal authorities in the United States, who worked with their counterparts in the United Kingdom to identify AK as the suspect in both attacks.

A police source said at least two other people are believed to be involved in the attack on Rockstar and Uber, and more arrests are expected soon.

Apparently, the hacker, along with his accomplices, obtained the leaked information through an internal Slack communication channel. In fact, the recent Uber breach also had Slack at its core.

More developments are expected soon after the 17-year-old’s case went through Highbury Corner Youth Court on September 24.
