Price hike: Ubisoft also adopts €79.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

It starts with Skull and Bones

Ubisoft was one of the few major publishing companies in the gaming industry that had not adopted the new price of €79.99 for its PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releases , even offering free upgrades of PS4 and Xbox One copies. As it seems, all good things come to an end and so the French giant is changing course.

In particular, Ubisoft will follow the path taken by Take-Two, Activision Blizzard and PlayStation by raising the prices of its major AAA releases on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S . Starting with Skull and Bones , from now on Ubisoft titles will ask gamers in Europe €79.99.

The prices of the two versions of Skull and Bones for PS5 in the Greek PlayStation Store:

Last year in February, Ubisoft stated that it had not yet decided, but now, in a new statement provided to Axios , CEO Yves Guillemot said:

Some of our games will come in at the same prices as the competition. Our big AAA games will cost $70.

It is worth noting that the increase probably only concerns the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as was the case with the other publishing companies, but Guillemot did not provide any further clarification, so for the time being we cannot know with absolute certainty.

At this point it should be mentioned that Assassin’s Creed Mirage, one of the company’s most anticipated upcoming releases, is asking €49.99 for the computer version through the official Ubisoft Store, so the price increase may not affect the new chapter of the beloved series. In comparison, Skull and Bones, for its PC version, is asking for €59.99 on the Ubisoft Store.
