Blade: The MCU movie with Mahershala Ali temporarily “on ice”.

Its release is postponed

We ‘ve been letting you know for some time that the production of Blade has hit some serious snags, with director Bassam Tariq leaving and the script being rewritten. Now, through a new report, The Holywood Reporter comes to shed more light on what goes on behind the scenes at Marvel Studios .

Going into details, the outlet points out that Marvel is currently freezing production on the vampire film, which will star Oscar winner Mahershala Ali . In particular, the company temporarily stopped the activities related to the filming in Atlanta, USA. There the cameras were supposed to start “writing” this November, but now the schedule has changed radically, since the company is looking for a new director. Marvel is currently aiming to restart production in early 2023.

Predictably, the film’s release date has been pushed back significantly. The project missed 2023 entirely and now instead of November 3, 2023 it is expected on September 6, 2024, which also affected other MCU projects, such as Deadpool 3 .

For the record, the start of production on Blade has been moved at least twice in the past, as the script has undergone several changes. The screenwriter is currently Beau DeMayo, who has worked on series such as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Witcher and its animated spinoff.

Of course, who will give flesh and bones to his script, we do not know yet, since two weeks after Tariq’s departure, a new director has not yet been found. Apparently, Marvel wants to do a more thorough search and give the project the time it needs.
