RUMOR: Open-world Black Panther game coming from surprise publisher
Jeff Grub’s report has all the details
In the world of video games Black Panther has never had his due, at least for a solo game. His most notable appearance was in Crystal Dynamics ‘ Marvel’s Avengers as an additional character. However, the efforts of Marvel Games to penetrate further into the field of video games and bring some of the glamor of the MCU to the field, it seems that they are intensifying.
According to well-known journalist and industry insider, Jeff Grub, an open-world Black Panther game is being developed with Electronic Arts as publisher. Its development is said to have been undertaken by a newly established EA studio where leading figures are former developers of Monolith Productions, known for the successful Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War games
Grubb emphasizes that the Black Panther game is in the very early stages of development , which will be completely single-player, with EA trying to bring some of the glamor and success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order . Also, it is said that the game will start with the death of Black Panther, as the player’s goal is to become his successor. However, plot details are a bit vague at the moment, and it’s not clear for example if you’ll be playing as T’Challa after his father’s death, or as an entirely new character after T’Challa’s death.
These rumors fit with the future plans of Marvel Studios, as in November Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is expected , the sequel to the 2018 film.
