iPhone 14: Bad word for the Plus model? – Apple is reducing its production

Just two weeks after debut

According to the report of the trusted journalist The Information , Apple made a surprising move. Specifically, just two weeks after the initial debut of the iPhone 14 , the tech giant decided to reduce the production of the iPhone 14 Plus .

The medium cites two different sources involved with the company’s supply chain who wish to remain anonymous. Based on their information, Apple reassessed the demand for its mid-range model, seeing the initial reaction of the market. Thus, it has asked at least one manufacturer in China to immediately freeze the manufacture of further components for the iPhone 14 Plus.

It is worth noting that this move comes at a time when the global smartphone market is experiencing a recession, since due to the increasing accuracy worldwide, which has affected everything from fuel to daily shopping, many consumers choose not to upgrade their devices this year. Somehow, in the last quarter, smartphone sales fell by 9% compared to the same period last year. This information comes from the data research company Canalys, which estimates that weak demand will continue for at least another six to nine months.

So apparently, things have taken exactly the opposite turn from what Apple would have liked, since last month Bloomberg reported that the American giant abandoned its plans to produce more iPhone 14. The reason? The expected increase in demand never materialized.

For the record, the iPhone 14 Plus was a new addition to Apple’s lineup for this year and came to stand alongside the regular iPhone 14, Pro and Pro Max. Practically the only big difference compared to the iPhone 14 is the screen, which rises from 6.1 inches to 6.7.

Of course, if the first reaction of the market to the Plus model was so lukewarm, it is uncertain whether Apple will continue with a corresponding model next year, that is, with the iPhone 15.
