On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Mafia series , 2K Games has announced that it will offer the first chapter for free to all PC gamers.
Going into details, Mafia 2002 will be available free of charge for five days on Steam . As long as you catch the promotion, the game will stay in your digital library forever. The promotion will begin today, Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. (Greece time) and will end on Monday, September 5.
In case you don’t know, the first Mafia was developed by Illusion Softworks and takes players to the fictional city of Lost Heaven in the 1930s. The story follows the rise and fall of a taxi driver who got involved with the mafia, Tommy Angelo. The game received rave reviews, with players and the media singling out its complex narrative and impressive realism for the era. Mafia’s core gameplay consists of driving, with city rides between different locations, as well as chases and races. The rest of the gameplay involves exploration and shooting from a third-person perspective, all of which are linked together by cutscenes.
In 2020, a complete remake of the title, the Definitive Edition, was also released, which stood out for its technical aspect. For the record, it was recently announced that the series will continue with a fourth chapter.
