Windows 11: There’s now a solution if you’ve had performance issues

Microsoft has fixed the situation

As we informed you in mid-November, the new 22H2 update of Windows 11 had caused a serious issue, significantly reducing performance in gaming and beyond, according to the reports of many users. Microsoft had indeed acknowledged the issue, providing a temporary fix and freezing the release of the update for those it believed might be affected.

Now, the good news is that the issue has been fixed. As Microsoft announced, update KB5020044 resolves the issue of slow performance and stuttering in various games, which was caused by accidentally running debugging functions to record non-consumer GPU statistics.

It is worth noting that this is a combined update, which, in addition to the specific issue, also fixes some bugs that caused File Explorer to stop responding, as well as an issue that froze Windows when new ‘Open File’ windows were opened. At the same time, the update also includes new features, especially regarding the integration of OneDrive into the operating system and the Personalization page of the settings.

Note that if your computer has not automatically installed the update, you can find it in the relevant section of the settings after manually checking for updates. The relevant indication for installation should be seen as in the image below.
