Joker 2 from another universe… and with the bullet!
New information about the future plans of the company
A few hours ago we informed you about the big changes at DC and its Cinematic Universe and now, some information about Joker: Folie à Deux has come to light . As it became known, the Joker sequel will remain outside the “DCCU” and will have nothing to do with the projects that will be in it .
Although we don’t know what James Gunn and Peter Safran have in store for the future of DC, Joker 2 will be outside of whatever cinematic universe is created. As reported by Variety , as of November 1, Gunn and Safran (co-CEOs of DC Studios) will learn the future of the company and be in charge, including the projects already in the works.

As for Joker: Folie à Deux, it will be a sequel to the 2019 hit film, will be released on October 4, 2024 and will star Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga . Also, it will basically be a musical directed and written by Todd Phillips . The French Folie à Deux refers to a term describing said mental disorder affecting two or more people.
For the record, director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran have been tapped to lead DC’s film, television and animation efforts. In fact, the DC Films division will soon be a thing of the past once and for all, with the newly formed DC Studios of Warner Bros. to replace it.

What will happen to the other DC universes?
Unlike Marvel, DC has many movies that take place in separate universes. According to THR’s sources, director Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel will not fall under Gunn and Safran’s purview and will still be in its own universe. On the other hand, Matt Reeves also has his own universe that started with the recent movie “The Batman”. It’s still unclear who will oversee Reeves’ future projects, but any other DC films from here on out will be signed by Gunn and Safran.
