Xbox: “Our gaming show will not have trailers from movies”
New information about the Xbox Games Showcase
Xbox has officially started the countdown to the big, double show that is expected to take place on June 11 . Specifically, through his social media accounts, he reminded gamers that there are only 7 days left for the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct .
But aside from announcing the Xbox itself, its head of games marketing Aaron Greenberg decided to prepare the ground even more by answering a few questions from the community about the show.
Starting off, Greenberg said that the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct will last about two hours in total and will be “non-stop games, games, games, games and Starfield.” He then responded to a gamer’s tweet asking Microsoft not to include a movie trailer, apparently referring to the PlayStation Showcase 2023 that featured a trailer for the Gran Turismo movie shortly before it closed. Greenberg, therefore, characteristically stated:
I can confirm that there will be no movie trailers at our own gaming show.
Greenberg continued to answer questions and also clarified that this year’s show wo n’t just focus on the games of the next 12 months , as Microsoft chose to do last year. On the contrary, it is not excluded that its presentation will also include games that will be further away from their release. On the subject of CGI, the high-ranking executive confirmed that none of Microsoft’s first-party games will be presented with an all-CGI trailer. All of its own games at the show will have either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or a combination of gameplay and cinematics. Each trailer will have a special label to make it clear what is what.
Finally, Greenberg closed with a very characteristic statement to a gamer who wrote to him: “I don’t have an Xbox, but I can’t wait to see what you’re up to. Starfield shows fire,” answering him:
I would bring an extra pair of underwear in that case.
