We’ve learned how many hours Alan Wake 2 will last

New information from Remedy itself

One of the games that stood out at this year’s Summer Game Fest 2023 was Alan Wake II , for which Sam Lake was even on stage at Geoff Keighley’s presentation. However, beyond the trailer we saw at the PlayStation show and the gameplay footage from Geoff’s show, even more details about the game came to light soon after.

In particular, WCCFTECH media had the opportunity to speak with Thomas Puha, Remedy’s head of communications, asking him a question that is sure to interest many gamers: How big will Alan Wake II be?

The relevant excerpt of the interview follows below:

With the game having two interconnected campaigns, can you tell us how long it will take someone to complete Alan Wake 2?
It depends on your skills, but for now (and the game isn’t over yet, because a lot of the content isn’t finished), we estimate over 20 hours .

For the record, the first Alan Wake had a duration of about 13 hours according to the well-known website HowLongToBeat, which means that the sequel will be considerably longer.

Alan Wake 2 is expected to be released for PC (only through the Epic Games Store), as well as for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 17, 2023. The game will be a digital-only release, with no physical copies on store shelves stores, but something that there is hope to change, as we have informed you.

As for the two campaigns, each will have its own style and mood. Thus, Saga Anderson’s campaign is, for example, inspired by the beloved series True Detective and the Oscar-nominated film, Se7en. In fact, it has been clarified that while the game will remain linear and will not follow the open-world trend, it will have “open area” gameplay, with more open and large areas that players will be able to explore, if they wish.
