Naomi Ackie is co-starred with: Ashton Sanders as Bobby Brown,  StanleyTucci  as Clive Davis,  Clarke Peters  as John Houston and  Tamara Tunie  as Cissy Houston.

The movie synopsis:

I Wanna Dance with Somebody is a powerful and triumphant celebration of the incomparable Whitney Houston. Directed by Kasi Lemmons, written by Academy Award nominee Anthony McCarten, produced by legendary music director Clive Davis and starring BAFTA Award winner Naomi Ackie, the film is an unrelenting portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice. From New Jersey choir girl to one of the most successful and award-winning artists of all time, audiences are taken on an inspiring, harrowing—and oh-so-emotional—journey through Houston’s pioneering life and career, with jaw-dropping performances and a soundtrack of the idol’s most beloved hits as you’ve never heard them before. Don’t you want to dance?

In addition to her brilliant career, being the most awarded singer of the era with record sales, she had also acted in the cinema. Whitney Houston co-starred with  Kevin Costner  in the iconic romantic drama The  Bodyguard  in 1992, making her acting debut. Later in her career, Houston struggled with drug addiction and eventually died in 2012 at the age of 48 from drowning.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody will hit theaters in December.
