New update fixes zero day bug

Apple has released a new update for Apple devices which fixes some very important bugs. Specifically, iOS 15.6.1, iPadOS 15.6.1, and macOS 12.5.1 come with fixes to the operating system’s kernel and WebKit, which until now allowed malicious code attacks on your devices.

Apple emphasizes that the software zero day vulnerability, codenamed CVE-2022-3289, has already been exploited by hackers, who can run code with administrative privileges on the device.

In the case of WebKit, the engine used by Safari, Mail, and other iOS and macOS apps, attackers can execute code that can allow malware to be downloaded. Hackers have already exploited this vulnerability as well.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Apple calls users to upgrade immediately for security reasons. Since the release of iOS 15 there have been 13 updates, nine of which have fixed significant vulnerabilities.

If you haven’t seen the update automatically yet, you can search for it by selecting Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone and iPad and System Preferences > Software Update on your Mac.
