Brendan Fraser: He wants ‘The Mummy 4’ and a return to the role that made him a star
Now that his career has been reborn thanks to “The Whale” he’s considering his options
Brendan Fraser (Brendan Fraser) became widely known from ” The Mummy ” movies, whose trilogy raised his star high in Hollywood along with his stock.
But now that his career has taken off again and he is living a new “golden period”, thanks to his performance in the film ” The Whale ” by Darren Aronofsky, the proposals are again increasing for the 53-year-old star.
So could he be back as Rick O’Connell, after the last movie ” The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor ” in 2008? Fraser expressed his thoughts by saying that he is open to ” The Mummy 4 ” and the role that made him a global Hollywood star. His answer, however, was down-to-earth:
I don’t know how this could be done, but I would be open to the possibility if someone came up with the right idea.
However, for the record, Universal went ahead with a remake of ‘The Mummy’ with the 2017 film of the same name, but without Fraser. public acceptance, nor the same commercial success.
A few words about The Whale:
It is said that for the special make-up and prosthetic effects he wore a special “suit” that weighed in some cases 123 kg and took up to 6 hours to put on depending on the scene. Speaking to Variety, Brendan Fraser revealed that when he took off his prosthetic suit, it caused other problems such as dizziness, and he “discovered muscles he didn’t even know he had” from carrying all that weight.
The film is based on Samuel D. Hunter’s multi-award-winning play from 2012. The story centers on a middle-aged man dealing with serious obesity issues, as he spent years binge eating to drown out the guilt that plagued him after abandoning his family for his gay lover. In an attempt to atone, he will attempt to reunite with his daughter, whom he abandoned for many years and is played by Sadie Sink, known as Max from the Stranger Things series.
Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink will be joined by Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins , and Samantha Morton. Fraser previously said of the role: ” It’s going to be something you’ve never seen before. That’s really all I can tell you. The wardrobe and the costumes were extensive and seamless and unwieldy. It’s certainly a far cry from anything I’ve done. never in my career but I don’t want to be humble because it’s going to make an impression” .
Aronofsky, who has given away the Oscar-winning Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan , returns to the director’s chair after 2017’s ” Mother! ” and is even reuniting with cinematographer Matthew Libatique .
Fraser will be seen again in the highly anticipated Killers of the Flower Moon directed by Martin Scorsese .
We still don’t know when The Whale will hit theaters.
