Ode to the 90s this time the sounds of Chris Pratt’s Star Lord

James Gunn has revealed the full soundtrack of the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 , featuring the established Star Lord mixtape, the “tape” that the Marvel movie star listens to in every movie.

Peter Quill’s ( Chris Pratt ) choices in the last few films were heavily influenced by late 70s and 80s rock, but in the finale of Vol. 2 the discovery of the “Zune” (Microsoft’s portable media player) foreshadowed the change in his musical tastes in later decades. 

And indeed it did as the Guardians 3 “tape” was revealed and it has a much more modern sound with an ode to the 90’s and early 2000’s. Famous artists and bands are on the official tracklist such as Radiohead, Faith No More, Rainbow , Alice Cooper, Beastie Boys and Florence + The Machine .

At the same time, the pre-sale of tickets has also opened for those who want to reserve a place in the theaters from now on. 

James Gunn recently confirmed that “Vol. 3” will be around 2.30 hours long , making it one of the longest films in MCU history.  Speaking  recently  about the fact that he will be playing Drax for the last time, Dave Bautista said the  following :

I am so, so grateful for the role of Drax. I love him, but there’s also a sense of relief that it’s over. Things were not always pleasant. It was a difficult role. The makeup process was wearing me out and I don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy. It’s a dumb performance and I want to do more dramatic roles. 

The cast includes:  Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel  and  Sean Gunn , with the addition of  Will Poulter  (Adam Warlock) and  Chukwudi Iwuji  from the cast of ” Peacemaker ” in the role of High Evolutionary, but also  Jennifer Holland.

Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will open in theaters on  May 5, 2023 .
