PS5 broke records in December and reached a new huge sales milestone

A few hours ago, Sony held its press conference for the world’s largest technology exhibition, CES 2023 , from which of course the PlayStation announcements could not be missing .
In more detail, among other things, Sony revealed new official data on the commercial course of its new generation console, which seems to be doing well despite the availability problems that plagued those concerned in the first months. Going into details, the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, made it known that December 2022 was the best month in the history of the PS5 , since the console sold more than ever.
With this outstanding close to the year, total PlayStation 5 sales have reached 30 million. In fact, this number refers to sold through consoles, i.e. those that have actually reached the hands of players. On the other hand, if we take into account the number of units that have reached store shelves, from April 2022 until now, the PS5 has sold 10.7 million, according to the company’s financial results.
Sony’s target for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023 is 18 million sales, which means it’s aiming to sell around 7 million PS5s within the next quarter.
