iPhone 15: Apple will probably leave the side buttons as you know them in the past

One of the big changes of the Pro models

Apple seems to be planning to make significant changes to the iPhone 15 Pro, also increasing their prices as we recently informed you . More specifically, according to reliable sources, in the next generation models the company plans to replace the physical buttons for volume up and down, but also the button for locking and power off/on with solid-state buttons . The move is seen as a way to further differentiate Pro models from the regular iPhone 15, which is expected to have the same design and functionality as the current iPhone 14 Pro models, such as the Dynamic Island and 48-megapixel camera.

The solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro models will provide haptic feedback similar to the solid-state Home button on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. This technology uses so-called Taptic Engines to provide physical feedback to users when pressing the “buttons ». But in reality, the buttons always stay in place, without any physical movement. This results in better liquid resistance as well as increased durability for the device overall.

This technology first appeared on the iPhone 7 and has since been used on MacBooks with a Force Touch trackpad. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable Apple analyst, its other devices, such as the high-end iPad Pro models and the Apple Watch Ultra, will adopt solid-state keys in the future.

Of course, since the launch of the iPhone 15 is still several months away, Apple could change its plans if it encounters obstacles. What is certain is that the company is looking to make significant changes to the iPhone 15 Pro in order to boost their sales and maintain a differentiating factor between the Pros and the standard models, which have had a disappointing run this year. In fact, the reduced sales of the iPhone 14 Plus are partly responsible for all these drastic decisions, since as we have informed you they have “seriously troubled” Apple.
