RTX 4080 and RTX 4090: European prices revealed and they’re hot

Over 20% increased prices in Europe

few hours ago, Nvidia officially revealed its new generation of graphics cards, which brings to the fore the Ada Lovelace architecture and will initially consist of three models. Specifically, at the beginning of October, the release of the RTX 4090 is scheduled, while in November, two different versions of the RTX 4080 will hit store shelves .

During the company’s show, the official prices of the GPUs for the American market were announced, which, however, do not include value added tax and of course are not the same for the European market. Now, according to information brought to the surface by Tom’s Hardware , we now know what the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 prices will be in Europe . In particular, the medium learned the official suggested retail prices for Germany.

It is worth noting that in this country there is a VAT of 19%, while in Greece the VAT amounts to 24%. For this reason, the prices below have been converted accordingly, so that they are in line with the basic tax rate applicable in our own country. Of course, since this is a conversion of the official German prices, it is possible that the cards will arrive in our country with an even higher or maybe even lower price, but this is something we cannot know yet.

Suggested retail prices for America

GeForce RTX 4080 12GB – $899

GeForce RTX 4080 16GB – $1,199

GeForce RTX 4090 – $1,599

Recommended retail prices for Europe (incl. 24% VAT)

GeForce RTX 4080 12GB – €1,139

GeForce RTX 4080 16GB – €1,525

GeForce RTX 4090 – €2,022

So it seems that for another generation prices are taking a big leap upwards. For the record the RTX 3090 debuted at €1,549 in Germany (with 19% VAT) and now, the RTX 4090 is asking for €1,949 (with 19% VAT) in that country. We are dealing with an increase in the order of €400, with the final price being even hotter in our country where tax indicators make it even more difficult for consumers.

For the record, since the early 2000s we have seen graphics card prices rise gradually, with the situation however becoming dramatic in recent years. Global chip shortages and supply chain issues arising from the pandemic, dramatically increased demand from miners and gamers, combined with increased production costs from partners such as TSMC and Samsung ultimately resulted in the new Nvidia flagship to arrive with a price that exceeds the psychological barrier of €2000!
