Corsair is preparing a PCIe 5.0 technology SSD drum with speeds over 10,000MB/s!

Published the first benchmark

A few days ago, Samsung announced that it intends to hit the “gas” hard with its next-generation PCIe 5.0 drives , and now Corsair , in turn, has started teasing.

More specifically, on the occasion of the debut of AMD’s AM5 platform which is expected in a few weeks from now along with the brand new Ryzen 7000 processors and which will support new technologies such as PCIe 5.0 graphics cards and disks, but also DDR5 memories, Corsair has prepared a special website for its next-gen products. In this context, he revealed the Corsair MP700 Gen 5 PCIe x4 NVMe 2.0 M.2 SSD , which will have impressive performance both in reading and writing.

Going into details, the company shared an official benchmark, which shows that compared to the 4th generation model , i.e. the MP600 Pro XT, the MP700 is 40% faster . As the company’s figures show, in terms of sequential read, the new model reaches 10,000MB/sec , while for sequential write it reaches 9,500MB/sec.

For the record, the theoretical maximum of PCIe 5.0 for M.2 drives is 15.8 GB/s. Corsair’s model comes close, but it seems there is still plenty of room for improvement for other future products.

The first official benchmark of the Corsair MP700 SSD:

It looks like the Corsair MP700 will make its debut this year, and in addition to new AMD systems, owners of Intel Alder Lake processors or the upcoming Raptor Lake will be able to take advantage of it.

For the record, if we consider that in addition to the new generation SSDs, the Ryzen 7000 and the 13th generation Intel Core, there are also new graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia in the works, 2022 is expected to be a very active year for the category of PC hardware.
