Has Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time Remake finally been cancelled? Ubisoft responds  

Refunds all pre-orders

Ubisoft has spoken through its official site about Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake , which has received many delays since the day it was announced. Among other things, the company stated that the game has not been cancelled.

In its official statement, Ubisoft confirmed that the title is still in the works by Ubisoft Montreal , but began canceling all pre-orders, saying:

Since the game currently does not have a release date, existing pre-orders have been canceled and all monies will be refunded to players.

As he points out, pre-orders will open again once the new release date is announced. He also hinted that he has no plans to remake another title in the franchise.

Ubisoft’s official positions:

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is not cancelled. The game is under development at Ubisoft Montréal.

Aside from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, there are no plans to remake any other titles in the series.

At the moment we have not set a new release date. We will provide new information on this when we are ready. We will also share more information about its development in the future.

For the record, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was announced in September 2020 and has been delayed about five times . Initially, the game was under development by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, but along the way Ubisoft decided to give it to the creators of the trilogy, Ubisoft Montreal.

In case you want to refresh your memory, the game had received mixed reactions when it was announced, since while fans of the franchise were happy with its return, many were not satisfied with the technical department. Taking into account the feedback, the company postponed its debut  from January 21, 2021 which was originally scheduled for March 18. In February, however, the title  was postponed again , without giving a new date.

Finally in June, Ubisoft broke its silence, revealing that the game would miss out entirely in 2021.  Then  the fourth delay  came last year in October, when the release was moved to Ubisoft’s next fiscal year, between April 2022 and March 2023.
