Netflix is considering giving up binge-watching episodes
Seeing that conditions are changing drastically in the streaming industry
With the odds now tough and not on their side, Netflix is considering changing the one thing it’s become known and loved around the world for, fundamentally changing the way we consume series.
The binge model is practically the release of all the episodes of a series from the first day, which started the trend of bingewatching and Netflix & Chill with millions of people…melting on their sofas for hours, without leaving the house until to end within a few hours/days the season of his favorite series.
That’s what Netflix wants to change, as according to Puck’s report, its CEO Reed Hastings is seriously considering the possibility of changing the model and releasing episodes on a weekly basis. After all, it was the first streaming service to implement this model, and then they all followed suit.
As the years went by, however, some wanted to change the schedule, and for example, Amazon with Prime Video started making the episodes available on a weekly basis.
But Netflix is seeing its subscribers dwindle and its stock fall. And apparently the online giant is open to the idea of changing the way audiences watch its series.

Hastings, states that ” there is no hard evidence that week-to-week episodes reduce subscriber churn, but the rate of subscriber churn from Netflix has increased and is now the only platform with a binge strategy. ”
And Disney Plus , which is now the great rival of Netflix, has successfully implemented the weekly disposition of its series. Lately, Netflix has experimented with splitting the final seasons of some of its blockbuster series into two parts, such as La Casa De Papel , Ozark , and Stranger Things, with the latter being a huge success in particular.
Of course we don’t know if he will actually make this change. Currently Netflix is preparing to launch its cheap subscription package next November .
