Disney Plus: Subscribers increased even more before its cheap package was even launched

Significant growth for another quarter amid tough competition

For another quarter, Disney Plus greatly increased its subscribers, Disney announced, reaching 164.2 million subscribers as of October 1.

In fact, it gained an additional 12.1 million subscribers worldwide in the last quarter of the current financial year, while analysts had forecast 8.9 million subscribers, thus beating forecasts by a large percentage.

In total, subscribers to all of Disney’s streaming services, which include Disney+, Disney+ Hotstar, Hulu and ESPN+ , have surpassed 235 million worldwide , up from 221.1 million subscribers in the previous quarter.

Where is Netflix’s big rival?

Compared to Disney Plus, Netflix reported an increase in subscribers after two consecutive quarters of decline, reaching a total of 223.1 million subscribers . At the same time HBO Max of Warner Bros. Discovery ended the quarter with 95 million subscribers worldwide.

This continued upward trend of Disney Plus and the fact that it has not lost its momentum is added to the fact that it has not yet launched its cheap package, compared to Netflix which has been sprinting to catch up. The Disney Plus ad-packed package will launch on December 8th .
