Microsoft Flight Simulator gets lighter and gets DLSS

Sim Update 10 available

Xbox Game Studios and Asobo continue to enrich and improve the Microsoft Flight Simulator experience , now releasing the highly anticipated Sim Update 10 .

The update in question adds Nvidia’s DLSS to the game , something players have been asking for for a long time. This means that owners of compatible RTX graphics cards will now be able to enjoy much higher framerates, taking advantage of the anti-aliasing/upscaling technology. In fact, the game became overall lighter, since a new ‘Low power mode’ was added, which can even lock the framerate at 20FPS for those who want the sim to consume less energy, possibly if they run it on a laptop.

In addition, the development team significantly improved the implementation of DirectX12. The game should now perform better when this API is selected and consume less memory. Of course, the only asterisk in the case is that the new DX12 memory allocator will become available for Nvidia card owners with the next Driver update. For now only gamers with AMD systems can enjoy it.

Other additions are the new layer system for clouds, which makes them even more realistic when the player’s plane is at lower altitudes, while all moving boats on the ground will now have a realistic water motion effect on PC.

For the record, this isn’t the only update on the horizon for the impressive simulator title, as the next World Update, which will improve the representation of Canada in Microsoft Flight Simulator’s digital Earth, is due later this month. Finally, in November, the huge free 40th Anniversary Edition update is expected, which will celebrate the series, adding the Airbus A310 plane, gliders, and even helicopters.
