Google Meet is coming to Google Duo, but Google Duo isn’t going to Google Meet

Something like that…

In its effort to unify its various services, Google thought it a good idea to call two of its apps “Meet,” without getting rid of one or the other. More specifically, Google Meet remains the same. However, Google Duo is renamed Meet, offering the features of both apps. Additionally, duo.google.com will redirect users to meet.google.com/calling.

If you’re already a user of the Meet app, nothing changes for you. The app will eventually be retired, and Google says it will notify users in time to migrate to the new app.

If you have Duo installed, you’ll see the logo change to that of Meet, and you’ll retain Duo functionality while adding Meet features.

From September, there will be a Meet app in stores, which will have the functions of both apps in one.
