RUMOR: Tom Holland return for Spider-Man 4 ‘locked in’
Sony Pictures and Disney are rumored to be close to a major new deal
” Spider-Man: No Way Home ” was undoubtedly the cinematic event of the past year. The hype for every trailer and every new tidbit was huge and it showed through the film’s box office performance as it grossed more than $2 billion at the global box office and instantly became one of the highest grossing films of all time.
It was loved by both audiences and critics, as evidenced by scores of 98% and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes respectively. The third film in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy served as a nice capstone to the character’s cinematic journey and left things on a theoretically good note for the MCU’s Spidey.
But even before the film became such a big box office success, Sony and Marvel made it clear that they wanted to continue Tom Holland’s Spidey adventures. It’s been almost a year since “No Way Home” hit theaters, and just a few months ago Sony re-released the movie with additional footage and the title ” Spider-Man: No Way Home: The More Fun Stuff Version ” .
But as far as the continuation of the story is concerned, both studios have kept fishy silence on the subject and so fans are wondering “where is Spider-Man 4 ? “
New deal between Sony and Disney for the Spider-Man of the MCU
Now a new rumor is coming to add fuel to the issue of Tom Holland returning as Spider-Man, which comes from Grace Randolph. Although it is not considered among the most trusted insiders, its recent streak is impressive, having revealed information such as the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy The Holiday Special and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Wonder Man of the MCU.
According to her information, Sony Pictures and Disney/Marvel Studios are close to finalizing a new major deal for the use of Spider-Man in the MCU, as was done with the previous film trilogy.
The new deal includes Spider-Man 4 and Holland’s participation in both the highly anticipated “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and Avengers: Secret Wars. Even if these rumors are not true, they may be a sign that something is on the horizon.
Another clue is the recent unfreezing of Tom Holland’s Instagram account, as a few days ago he posted a new video about the charity he runs with his brother. The 26-year-old actor had announced a few months ago that he would stay away from social media for his mental health.
The timing of this information comes in addition to The Cosmic Circus’ sources reporting that Sony Pictures is considering placing Spider-Man 4 in the July 12, 2024, date slot for a theatrical release then.
If the two giants are indeed working on a new deal for Holland’s Spider-Man, then the announcements won’t be long in coming.
