Tesla has admitted that Full Self-Driving can cause accidents
It is recalling 363,000 vehicles
The US Highway Safety Commission has announced that Tesla will recall about 363,000 of its vehicles because its Full Self-Driving software can cause accidents. More specifically, NHTSA states that the FSD software may exceed speed limits or pass through intersections in an illegal or unpredictable manner, increasing the risk of a crash.
The exact number of recalled vehicles is 362,758 and includes 2016-2023 Model S, 2017-2023 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta software or pending installation.

After years of investigating Tesla highway accidents, the NHSTA began its formal investigation into Tesla’s software in August 2021, now concluding with this decision.
The recall of the vehicles – as is now the case with modern cars when it involves a software problem – will be done with an OTA update free of charge.
