Oscars 2023: Michelle Yeoh’s emotion that made history with her award (VIDEO)  

The 60-year-old star became the first actress of Asian origin to be awarded by the Academy

History was made by ” Everything ” and its star, Michelle Yeoh , playing “Evelyn” in the “Daniels” movie. One of the seven total Oscars received by Everything Everywhere All At Once went to Yeoh, who at the age of 60 made history as the first Asian actress to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. 

Overall, she is the third Asian actress in history to be awarded at the Oscars after Yuh-Jung Youn for ” Minari ” and Miyoshi Umeki for ” Sayonara “. In the category she beat Cate Blanchett for ” Tar ” (who seemed to be the favorite), Michelle Williams for ” The Fabelmans “, Andrea Riseborough for ” To Leslie ” and Ana De Armas for ” Blonde “. 

The emotion was evident on her face and at the sound of her name, the entire Dolby Theater stood up for a resounding standing ovation at this year’s Best Performance by an Actress at the 2023 Oscars . 

“This is a beacon of hope,” said Malaysian-born Michelle Yeoh with tears in her eyes as she pointed to her golden statuette, and also sent a message to all women in the world with the phrase “Don’t let anyone tell you that your paint is off . ”

Yeoh’s much-coveted and well-deserved win comes after a decades-long career in Hollywood with roles in mostly action films such as ” Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon “, ” Yes, Madam “ and as the Bond girl in ” Tomorrow Never Dies ” (“Tomorrow Never Dies”) of 1997.
