One Piece: One month hiatus for the manga due to Eiichiro Oda’s health issue
The announcement made officially by the creator of One Piece
The mangaka of One Piece , Eiichiro Oda has announced an extended break in the production of the most famous and longest running manga on the planet. In an announcement from the creator of One Piece it became known that immediately after the completion of the recent arc and in order to make the proper preparations for the 25th anniversary of the manga series, it will take a long break.
Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine will stop publishing new issues for 4 weeks, from June 27th to July 25th . However, the next chapter will be released as normal in the 32nd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.
The reason is not only that he needs to prepare and rest for the Final Arc of One Piece but because he is dealing with a health issue. In his short message that circulated on social media and was translated, Oda states that he suffers from high degree astigmatism and will have to undergo surgery.
” I know I’ve been talking about One Piece and how we’re in the final stages of its story for a while now, but I’m going to have to take a break to get my eyes fixed. I’m going to have an operation to shoot lasers from my eyes. I know a lot of people will be worried even though I’m joking, so let me make it clear,” Oda wrote. “The problem is still hindering my work…so when I get back I’ll see better! And I’ll be able to shoot lasers out of my eyes .”
The program of the One Piece anime series, however, is not interrupted and will continue normally with a new episode every week.
