iPhone: Apple wants to make a huge change to Siri

The command that all iOS users know will become more prone to accidental activations

Apple is planning to make a huge change to how Siri works , specifically how users invoke it. Now the way to activate Siri has been for many years – since it was launched in 2010 – the same, namely with “Hey Siri”. But this may be about to change a habit of millions of iOS users.

Siri command changes

According to information from the authoritative Bloomberg, Apple and its engineers are considering the possibility of removing the “Hey” from the phrase to activate the most famous digital assistant of all. So users will activate it by simply saying “Siri” and the command they want.

Mark Gurman’s report notes that this is a technical challenge for developers as it requires a large amount of training of the AI and setting up the code base.

Apple is also said to have been testing it for several months now and hopes to release the feature either next year or sometime in 2024, depending on how development goes.

But such a change might make Siri more prone to accidental activations, while Hey Siri is known even with memes to open even if heard from the TV for example.
