Team Ninja is open to giving Ninja Gaiden to another studio

The company is finally talking about its little-loved IP

Team Ninja has made some very interesting statements regarding one of its most successful franchises, Ninja Gaiden .

As the company stated to VGC , it is open to assigning its IP to other studios, as long as the game can exceed the expectations of the fans. Specifically, Fumihiko Yasuda , who is the director of the upcoming Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty , said the following:

If we were to theoretically work with another company for a brand new Ninja Gaiden, we would have to make sure that it would be a title that fans would really enjoy and exceed their every expectation.

He went on to say that although there is a large fan base in Ninja Gaiden, Team Ninja should balance the resources of their teams to see what kind of skills their members currently have. From there, he would decide if those skills could fit into an existing IP (like Ninja Gaiden) or an entirely new IP.

He also added that Team Ninja is open to giving a group of younger developers a new Ninja Gaiden game.

It’s not just: “come on, let’s go do this.” All the pieces should match and should be the correct group. Either a newer team internally, or another company that should really match Ninja Gaiden.

Let us remind you that in 2014, Team Ninja collaborated with the Spark Unlimited studio, which made Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. The last time we saw the series was last year with the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, while the company is also working on other projects, such as Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Rise of the Ronin.
