The Last of Us HBO: Fans believe a ‘Part 2’ character appeared in the series

The controversial scene has become the subject of commentary on social media

A short scene in episode 6 of HBO’s The Last of Us made gaming fans get off their couches like the famous Leonardo DiCaprio meme.

The occasion was a scene where while Ellie (Bella Ramsey ) and Joel ( Pedro Pascal ) were eating in the dining room with Tommy ( Gabriel Luna ) and Maria, a girl was watching Ellie while she was eating. Ellie with the chump who rules her, yells at this unknown girl who freaks out and runs away.

TV viewers who got to know The Last of Us from the series understandably don’t understand what it’s about, but those who have played the video games caught the wink from the producers.

And that’s because everyone was convinced and concluded that it was Dina, Ellie’s partner that we know in The Last of Us Part II . After all, their first meeting is described in a dialogue the two have in the scene of the Naughty Dog sequel where they dance in the same diner in Jackson, several years after the events of the first game.

Watch the controversial scene in episode 6 of The Last of Us:

This easter egg was no accident as showrunner and game creator Neil Druckmann commented on the scene in question on the episode 6 podcast, hinting that fans are right.

“It’s ambiguous, someone is looking at Ellie… I wonder who it could be, theoretically or not. We’ll find out maybe one day, ” Druckmann says on the podcast with (co-showrunner) Craig Mazin responding with the following : ” Yeah, because in Part 2, there’s a story about the first time Dina meets Ellie that’s very similar to what’s going on here. That doesn’t mean she’s Dina, but it doesn’t mean she’s not.”

It should also be mentioned that the young version of Dina (if it really is her) was played by Paolina van Keef , whom the credits of the episode describe as “Staring Girl”.
