James Gunn makes an incredible admission about how he came up with the plot of the MCU and Infinity Saga  

The cult MCU came out in… an hour and a half

In the midst of promoting G uardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 , the film’s director, James Gunn, granted several interviews with the cast. In one of them, namely Phase Zero, Gunn made an unlikely and surprising admission about how he thought up the entire story of the Infinity Saga, where Phases 1-3 of the MCU were based. 

He literally did not think much about the script of the Infinity Stones and their hunt by Thanos , as he said the basis for this plot came to him within an hour and a half. 

The foundation of the Infinity Stones story came in Guardians of the Galaxy where Benicio Del Toro’s “Collector” tells the Guardians the story about the gems, a scene he wrote very quickly as he himself admitted laughing nonstop. 

“I wrote that scene in 90 minutes, just coming up with the idea of ​​what the Infinity Stones were and then everything the MCU was based on, ” Gunn said. 

The now head of DC Studios and architect of the new DC Universe continued his revelation, laughing along with Chris Pratt: ” And they were saying to me, ‘you know, we’re thinking about putting the Power Stone in.’ And I was like, ‘Great, the Power Stone.’ , yes the Collector has it etc… I just screwed it up at the time! “

With Guardians 3 Gunn completes his duties with Disney and Marvel and will now focus on building and developing the new DC Cinematic Universe. Where he is writing and directing the new Superman movie titled ” Superman: Legacy “, which is expected to be released in July 2025, while he also took on Creature Commandos an animated series for HBO Max. 

As for Guardians of the Galaxy 3, after one week in theaters it has surpassed $300 million at the box office, thus continuing its steady course.
