Luther: First Look at Idris Elba’s Sequel Movie

The film’s star, Idris Elba, talks about how it will differ from the series

A completely different style will be the film-sequel of the series ” Luther ” of the BBC with Idris Elba, which will be released through Netflix. Thanks to Empire magazine’s special feature, a first look at the movie Luther has been released with some first information about the long-awaited sequel to the action of the famous detective.

Both Elba and creator Neil Cross talked about how different the Luther movie will be on Netflix and how the scale will be bigger as the wily detective will go outside of London and into new landscapes, like snowy mountains, as seen in the first screenshots published.

In fact, Elba reveals that despite the bigger budget and scale, the film will retain the harsh and gloomy texture of the series, as well as its blood-stained sets:

“It’s very dangerous when you’re expanding from TV to film to throw in a lot of money and then change the features of the show,” he says. “I wanted to make sure that even though we had a bigger budget, we didn’t alter the parameters of Luther too much. We’re upping the action and upping the stakes. But the moment [of Season 3] with the man under the bed? That doesn’t cost a lot of money . These moments remain intact.”
