GTA 6: Leaks Confirmed To Be Real – New Developments
The first moves of Rockstar Games
One of the biggest leaks we’ve ever seen in the gaming industry took place in the last few hours, after various videos purporting to be from the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 made the rounds on the internet .
Finally, there is no longer any doubt, since highly trusted Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has now come forward to point out that we are indeed talking about footage from GTA 6 . In particular, speaking to his own sources who know what is going on behind the scenes, Schreier confirmed the validity of the leaks, stating that the footage comes from an early version of the game , whose development is apparently not yet complete.
In more detail, he emphasized:
Not that there was much doubt, but I confirmed with my sources at Rockstar that the massive leak of Grand Theft Auto VI this weekend is indeed real. The material is early and incomplete, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in video game history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games.
The leak appears to be the result of a hack, with fellow trusted reporter Tom Henderson noting that the leaker asked to be contacted by someone at Rockstar Games when the leak went “unexpectedly viral.”
At this point it is worth mentioning that Take-Two, parent company of Rockstar Games, seems to have already started legal action, asking the various video platforms to take down the footage.
Finally, the topic was also commented on by many well-known figures in the industry. For example, Neil Druckmann, creator of The Last of Us and Uncharted 4, who had experienced something similar shortly before the release of The Last of Us Part II, took a stand.
Specifically, Druckmann, addressing the developers of Rockstar Games, said:
To all my colleagues out there who were affected by this leak, please know that while you may feel overwhelmed right now, it will pass. One day we’ll be playing your game, appreciating your art, and the leaks will be a footnote on the Wikipedia page. Keep trying. Keep creating art.
