The Witcher: Netflix’s efforts to convince the world about the recasting of Henry Cavill
The first statements of the showrunner of the Netflix series after the change of the TV Geralt
The change of TV Geralt damaged – perhaps irreparably – Netflix’s The Witcher series, as the appeal and success of Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia is undeniable. However, from season 4 the TV Geralt will change…literally since he will be played by Liam Hemsworth.
Now, Netflix is trying to convince fans of The Witcher series that this change will bring a breath of fresh air and a…different energy. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, showrunner of The Witcher, spoke to Decider while promoting The Witcher: Blood Origins about the recasting case, saying:
“You know, I will tell you that change is also about energy. Change brings a different energy. So for us, this is all just part of continuing to move the franchise forward.”
In another statement to IGN, she said:
“I’m excited about the change because it allows the franchise to grow and it will bring a renewed energy and chemistry that we haven’t yet discovered. Personally speaking that’s part of the phase of television. You never know where the adventure is going to end. So for this recasting is something I’m excited about.”
In the midst of all this PR effort to convince the audience of the Witcher series for this change, Hissrich also stated that she ” Completely understands ” the reasons why fans have been upset by Cavill’s departure.
But he hopes they stick around to see The Witcher Season 4 because “it’s a big deal for them too . “

At the same time, thousands of fans are collecting signatures for the return of Henry Cavill and the dismissal of the writers of the Netflix series. Also, according to the latest information this may have been the reason behind the departure of the 39-year-old star of The Witcher.
In the wake of the recasting announcement, Liam Hemsworth made the following statement on Netflix’s Tudum:
“As a fan of The Witcher I am thrilled at the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt and I am honored to be handing over the reins and allowing me to take up the swords of the White Wolf for the next chapter of his adventure . Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you’ve given to this beloved character. I may have a big gap to fill, but I’m really excited to enter the world of The Witcher.”

Cavill, on the other hand, had the following to say about his departure:
My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with monsters and adventures, and sadly, I will be giving up my locket and swords for Season 4. In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the role of the White Wolf. As with the greatest literary characters, I hand over the baton with respect for the time I spent embodying Geralt and excitement to see Liam’s approach to this most fascinating and nuanced man. Liam, good lord, this character has such wonderful depth, enjoy the experience of diving in and seeing what you can find.”
When is The Witcher season 3 coming out?
Henry Cavill’s final stint as Geralt will premiere in summer 2023 on Netflix.
