Conor McGregor will star in a film for the first time alongside Jake Gyllenhaal

The former lightweight champion moves from the UFC octagon to the Hollywood set

Having conquered and left an era in the UFC octagon , former MMA world champion Conor McGregor is preparing to move to the Hollywood sets.

And that’s because the Irish fighter will make his acting debut playing in a movie alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. In particular, as Deadline reveals, Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the remake of the movie ” Road House “, which is being prepared for Amazon Prime Video.

The remake will be directed by Doug Liman ( Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity ) from a script by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, with filming beginning this month in the Dominican Republic. For those who don’t know, it’s a remake/reimagining of the classic 80s action film “Bravo” starring the late Patrick Swayze .

According to what has become known, the script will follow a former UFC fighter (in this case Jake Gyllenhaal), who takes a job as a bouncer in a decadent bar in Florida, but soon discovers that the place is not just a tropical paradise. As for Conor McGregor’s role we know he will be playing a brand new character and not himself.

As reported by Deadline, Hollywood has long wanted to find a way to work with the UFC superstar, but McGregor was in no rush and wanted to find a movie or series that would suit him. When he heard that Road House was coming back with a remake, he saw the film, liked it and agreed to meet with its producer, Joel Silver.

Gyllenhaal and McGregor will be co-starring: Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, BK Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery .

The Road House remake will be shown exclusively on Amazon Prime Video worldwide when it is released.
