Netflix wants to make its own Google Stadia

The head of Netflix Games says that Stadia was a success from a technical point of view

Netflix wants to look something like Google Stadia and establish its own cloud gaming service, as we learn from VGC’s report  .

Netflix’s plans for its expansion into the gaming industry were mentioned by the head of the gaming department, Mike Verdu, in a special panel at TechCrunch’s Disrupt event.

Among the plans of Netflix Games, therefore, is its expansion into cloud gaming and how the company is seriously considering expanding the audience it addresses, through TVs and PCs.

Verdu said their approach to building Netflix’s cloud gaming service will be “step by step,” as they’ve been doing with the in-app mobile game catalog all along.

Of course, Netflix Games wants to avoid the mistakes that led to the failure of Stadia.

According to Verdu, the problem with Stadia was its business model, rather than technical problems:

Stadia was a success from a technical point of view. It was fun to play on Stadia. He had some problems with his business model. But when I look at the technology I say it worked.

For us, bringing games to TVs and PCs is an added benefit. We’re not asking someone to subscribe to replace their console, so it’s a completely different model. We hope that over time it will just become normal to play games wherever you are and on any device.
