The Insight Project: Ninja Theory’s new effort to combat mental illness through video games

The Ninja Theory , the studio behind the award-winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice announced The Insight Project . This is a new initiative combining technology with video games to combat mental illness. It is well known that the studio through the Senua adventure that suffered from psychosis was applauded for its wide representation of the complex range of mental illnesses.

Game director Tameem Antoniades and the psychiatrist-professor of neuroscience at the University of Cambridge will combine their knowledge and strengths into the new venture. The Insight Project aims to relieve mentally ill people by combining technology with game design and clinical neuroscience, with the aim of providing patients with in-game experiences that will enable them to recognize, respond and ultimately control, their anxiety and any other negative state they are suffering from.

Tameem Antoniades talked about Microsoft’s role in this, saying:

The acquisition of Microsoft took a lot of weight off our shoulders as a studio. Since we have now stopped playing games for others, with the anxiety of being released, we are now given the opportunity to launch completely new projects.
