GTA 6: Rockstar Games Breaks Its Silence – First Official Statements
The landscape is finally clearing up
A few hours ago, one of the biggest leaks we’ve ever seen in the gaming industry took place, after numerous videos of an early, in-development version of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 made the rounds online . In the hours that followed, a lot was heard and said, with the topic becoming viral.
In fact, the authenticity of the footage had already been confirmed , but so far neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company, Take-Two , had made any official statement, however starting with some legal actions, after asking the various video platforms to download the shots.
Now, Rockstar has broken its silence, posting a detailed message on its social media accounts, through which it is clear that its network infrastructures were breached and at the same time reassuring the community that this will not in any way affect its future projects, nor its existing games.
Rockstar Games’ official statement on the GTA 6 leak:
We recently suffered an intrusion into our network in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early footage from the development of the next Grand Theft Auto. At this time, we do not expect any service interruptions for our live games, nor any long-term effects on the development of our projects.
We are extremely disappointed that any details about our next game were released in this way with all of you. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as normal, and our commitment to delivering an experience for you, our players, that will truly exceed your expectations remains as strong as ever. We’ll update you all again soon and, of course, properly introduce you to this next game when it’s ready. We want to thank you all for your continued support in this situation.
