Splatoon 3 broke a gigantic sales record in just three days
The most successful title launch in Japan
Through a special announcement on its official website , Nintendo confirmed that Splatoon 3 has already managed to break a huge sales record .
Going into details, the much-awaited sequel to the colorful franchise debuted on September 9 and has been in the market for just three days. Apparently, this short period was enough to achieve the most successful launch of any game ever released in Japan.
In particular, the sales of Splatoon 3 in the land of the rising sun exceeded 3.45 million copies within its first three twenty-four hours on the market . In comparison, the previous biggest Switch game launch in Japan was achieved by Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which again in a three-day period in March 2020 sold over 1.88 million copies. Splatoon 3 didn’t just break the record, it literally shattered it, nearly doubling it.
For the record, Splatoon 3 features an all-new single-player campaign, in which players will battle the Octarians in the new town of Splatsville to find out what’s going on with the resurgence of the mammals. At the same time, the Salmon Run co-op mode of Splatoon 2 returns renewed, while many new additions have been made to the multiplayer.
Splatoon 3 is released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and through the following player you can see its launch trailer to get a taste of the action it promises.
