Joker 2: Joaquin Phoenix will return with the same Oscar-winning composer

The “musical” sequel ticks off another element that succeeded in the first film

A new piece of information has come to light about the highly anticipated Joker 2, the sequel to Todd Philips’ Oscar-winning film. One of the elements that marked the first film, apart from Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar-winning performance as Arthur Fleck, was its music, which also won Hildur Guðnadóttir the golden statuette.

Variety reports that composer Hildur Guðnadóttir will indeed be returning to compose the Joker: Folie à Deux soundtrack, and has already begun work on it, as she reveals.

The Icelandic-born musician signed two other films this year that are strong contenders for the 2023 Oscars, namely ‘Tar’ and Women Talking.

According to what we know so far, Joker 2 or Joker: Folie à Deux will take place in Arkham Asylum and will star Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker and  Lady Gaga  as Harley Quinn. Of course, the location is no accident, since in the comics as well, the Joker meets Harley Quinn in Arkham Asylum, when she undertakes to help him as a psychiatrist, but eventually falls in love with him.

In addition to Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, in Joker: Folie à Deux we know so far that: Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz, Harry Lawtey and Jacob Lofland will participate .

Joker : Folie à Deux is slated to hit theaters on October 4, 2024.
